To say it simply, we are a young family with a love for food. Because we live in the resort town of Cape May, N.J., we have the wonderful opportunity to do a bit of traveling during the off season. Along our way, we are always looking for new and exciting cuisine which lead to a love for empanadas. While empanadas themselves may not exactly be a new idea, the history and many variations immediately attracted us. Once we returned home, we found ourselves craving our new found love, which brought us to the realization that a good empanada was hard to find in this area. We felt like everyone should have access to these tasty little treats, and we were just the people to provide it. A little bit of practice combined with our amazing Jersey fresh local ingredients, and we thought we were on the right track. We decided to premier them for our family and friends at our son's second birthday party. (He also happens to be our toughest taste tester). To make a long story short, they were a hit. So with a bit more practice, Empanada Mama's was born in the spring of 2010.
